Seeking our first Board of Trustees.

I watched this sunrise this morning and it reminded me, as the shortest day of the year approaches and we are looking forward to Matariki, that it was a good sign for this exciting news item.

After a year of preparation, the establishment group are ready to pass the leadership of the agency to our first Board of Trustees.

Navigating together towards a thriving future in Te Tauihu.

"Te haere ngātahi ki tētahi anamata tōnui i Te Tauihu"

* Are you interested in taking on a governance role that has the potential to influence the efficiency and impact of the entire for-purpose sector across Te Tauihu?

* Are you interested in joining the inaugural Board of the new Te Tauihu Community Development Agency, working to set it up well for success now and for generations to come?

* Do you believe that a connected and collaborative For-Purpose Sector can positively impact our regions’ wellbeing and prosperity, ensuring a great place for all to thrive?

This is an exceptional opportunity to be part of a transformative initiative that will shape the future of the Te Tauihu for-purpose sector, that is all organisations and groups that work ‘for purpose’ including not-for-profit organisations, charities, and NGOs. If you are passionate about maximising the impact the sector can have on the wellbeing of everyone that lives, works and plays in our region, and possess the necessary skills and experience, we want to hear from you.

Te Tauihu Community Development Agency is community-led and will be governed via a Kawenata (charter, agreement) in partnership with the eight Iwi of our region. It will respond to sector needs and build sector capability, capacity and collaboration, and strategic voice. It will work to ensure that organisations and groups across the sector work more effectively and collectively to support the wellbeing of our communities, deliver on relevant Te Tauihu Intergenerational Strategy actions, and build social capital and cohesion. It will do this in partnership with for-purpose organisations, iwi, business, local government, central government and other funders.

We are facing global and local challenges including climate change, a cost of living crisis and growing complex needs in our communities. The for-purpose sector is under pressure. We have an opportunity to work collectively to support more sustainable, resilient and thriving communities across Te Tauihu, where every person has access to the support, opportunities and resources they need for wellbeing and prosperity.

We are looking for a Board of Trustees who collectively have experience and understanding around the for-purpose sector, Governance, Collective Impact, Te Ao Māori and Mātauranga Māori, Commercial/Business, and regional understanding of communities across Marlborough, Tasman, and Nelson. Our intention is to cover expenses and make provision for trustee remuneration when funding allows.
